Celebrate (and create) Milestones!
In my real estate business I can’t tell you when we sold our 1,000th property – even though the software I developed could easily tell us that. I don’t know when we first hit double digits by having 10 people working on our team. I don’t know when we sold $100 million worth of property or when the company made its first $1 million in revenue. I really wish we did take the time to list our future milestones and then celebrate them as they happened. I encourage you to do so today.
How to work out your future celebration points:
- Work out exactly where you are today in terms of numbers.
- List some of the big milestones that will come up for your career or business in the near and not so near future.
- Write these milestones down and keep them close to you. Each month track how close you’re getting to hitting a milestone
- Celebrate when you hit your milestones! Have a party, bring in a tray of food, shout drinks, throw some streamers, bang a gong, buy yourself a celebration present – do whatever you have make sure you know something great has happened.
- Most importantly don’t forget to let your clients, staff, family and friends know that it’s celebration time. Most people love any opportunity to share in and celebrate someone else’s success!
Does this work for any career or business? I can’t see why not!
Perhaps if you work in or own a gym – your 100th and 500th members, your 1,000th personal training session and your 5,000th class! If you’re a hairdresser the first day you have a full day without a single vacancy or the day you hit 100 clients for the month. Be creative and celebrate!
