Once again I would like to extend our thanks for your presentation to our class “Start@TAFE”. You had such a great rapport with our students and there was a very lively discussion after you left. Over the past 4 years we have had more than 40 quest speakers address our students on a range of topics related to employment and life skills but you managed to captivate and inspire.

Our student group is made up of 16-18 year old youth who for many and varied reasons have disengaged from formal education and sometimes life itself and often guest speakers find this group rather challenging or intimidating to engage or even to get our students to sit still and listen.. you managed to get them up and to participate in games and to move into the realm of possibility for them!!

I recently attended a presentation conducted by Kirsty called Culture is caught, not taught and found it excellent. It was incredible to hear of the culture she had created within her business and how we could translate that into our business by making our clients and staff feel a valued member of our business. Too often we get caught up in the day to day operations of the business to say thank you and show some appreciation and genuine interest in what our staff and clients are doing and importantly what things they are interested in, particularly outside of office hours. We will definitely be implementing some of the ideas mentioned and it made us reflect on our business and how we can improve it. I was in the audience yesterday whilst you were giving your talk at the Ernst & Young Women's Leadership luncheon. As I didn't have the opportunity to speak to your afterward, I just wanted to drop you a quick line to say that your discussion on networking was fantastic! What I loved most were the excellent tips you gave us, which really, when you think about it, are so simple that everyone has the capability to implement them. During the first 10 minutes or so, you made such a positive impression on me (I think the real clincher was when you said that practice does not make perfect as I also believe that is not the case and I rarely come across people who also have that view), that all I could think about was that you were my age and that my skill set in public speaking, networking and understanding what makes a successful business are nothing in comparison. What I took from that though was that with determination, self confidence and the willingness to challenge yourself and go outside your comfort zone, you can really achieve whatever it is that you want.
